This time, it’s only take 3 years of waiting for another. Our only real criteria this time was a focal length of 35mm and we walked the Nanaimo Harbor front. Check it out and polls close on March 17th, noon.

Shoot-Out #2 https://brawns.ca/personal/sc2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sc2 https://brawns.ca/personal/sc2/#comments Tue, 10 Apr 2012 04:55:34 +0000 http://brawns.ca/personal/?p=907 We had another shootout, this time at Englishman River Falls. If you have not been there, you should make a point to go. It’s a great spot for a walk. Lucky for us, we left minutes before it started pouring!

This time we made the rules stricter so that the images would be more consistent. I was told that I was not allowed to shoot dogs or kids. I was tempted to break that rule as there was a big man and an even bigger dog hugging in the parking lot. Like last time, the photographers are anonymous until after the voting to keep people from playing favorites… 😉 Enjoy!

Tofino https://brawns.ca/personal/tofino-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tofino-2 https://brawns.ca/personal/tofino-2/#comments Mon, 09 Apr 2012 15:46:42 +0000 http://brawns.ca/personal/?p=920 We had a shoot back out last minute that was suppose to occur in Tofino. Theresa and I decided to go anyways as we try to make a point to get out there a couple times a year beyond with clients. Ben had never been to Tofino, it was fun to watch him play in the ocean and in the sand although he hates to get his hands dirty.

Landscape work https://brawns.ca/personal/landscape-work/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=landscape-work https://brawns.ca/personal/landscape-work/#respond Sat, 10 Mar 2012 18:35:03 +0000 http://brawns.ca/personal/?p=892 It’s been a long time goal of mine to produce fine-art status worthy landscape works. The problem is that landscape photography is much more challenging than I’ve ever expected. As I continue to grow and learn as an artist, I’m able to take what I know about portraiture photography and apply it to landscape. While at first glance it might not seem directly related, at the end of the day we are just trying to capture the interesting things that light is capable of. Here are two frames from a recent sunset walk at our favorite park in Nanaimo, Neck Point.
